How to become a Pilot?
Becoming an airline pilot in India is a 6 step journey.
The minimum eligibility criteria to become a pilot in India as per the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) is completing 10+2 education with Physics and Maths. If you have not completed your 10+2 do not worry, you can choose to clear the subjects with exams through NIOS or an equivalent.

The 6 steps to learn, 'How to Become a Pilot?' are:

Step 1: You need to be medically fit before you apply your pilot application. Class 2 exam is a basic physical exam while Class 1 is crucial & ensures you are fit to fly long haul flights.

Step 2: Obtain your Computer Number from DGCA. A Computer Number is a unique applicant ID alloted to every aspiring pilot making them eligible to sit for the DGCA exams. Submit online application through the Pratiksha portal and send the hardcopy to the DGCA to receive your, Computer Number.

Step 4: Next, to become a pilot in India you must clear the written exam by DGCA. They conduct theory exams 4 times a year in Navigation, Meteorology, Air Regulation, RTR and Technical General. You must clear all the 5 subjects to learn flying in India.​

Step 5: You have successfully cleared the DGCA exam, Great! Your next big step is to join a good flight training academy for a hands-on flying experience. But how to decode flight training in India and abroad?

3 qualities to find in a good flight training academy is :
(i) DGCA Approved (in India)
(ii) Good Flying Instruments
(iii) Quality Flight Training

Step 6: Once you have accumulated sufficient flight hours you are ready to apply for pilot licenses. Start with a Private Pilot License (PPL) and then a Commercial Pilot License (CPL).

A few more crucial licenses before you start your commercial flying are RTR, FRTOL and Type Rating.
